ConocoPhillips Rice University Applied Mathematics Program (AMP!) 2025-2026
A Model Lab for Houston Mathematics & Science Teachers

The application deadline is May 1, 2025.

The application process for this program consists of completing the information below AND submitting the signed Participant & Principal Agreement Letter for your specific grade level

You will be asked to upload a scanned copy of the completed agreement letter near the end of this application. If you are not able to upload your completed letter, please contact R-STEM at stem@rice.edu.

AMP! enrollment preference will be given to Math/Science teacher pairs from the same campus, but applications may be submitted by teacher pairs from different campuses/districts, and by individual Math or Science teachers without a partner.
  • Teacher-pairs for the 5th Grade program are comprised of one 5th Grade Mathematics teacher and one 5th Grade Science teacher.
  • Teacher-pairs for the 6th Grade program are comprised of one 6th Grade Mathematics teacher and one 6th Grade Science teacher.
  • Teacher-pairs for the 7th Grade program are comprised of one 7th Grade Mathematics teacher and one 7th Grade Science teacher.
  • Teacher-pairs for the 8th Grade program are comprised of one 8th Grade Mathematics teacher and one 8th Grade Science teacher.
  • Teacher-pairs for the Algebra I/Biology program are comprised of one Algebra I teacher and one Biology teacher.

Both teachers in a teacher-pair need to submit individual applications. Applicants with a partner will be notified of acceptance only if both individual teachers in a teacher-pair have completed the application form.

All information in the application must be filled in completely. Space is limited, therefore completing the application process does NOT guarantee placement in the program. Applicants will receive email notifications of their status by the end of the 2024-2025 school year.

AMP! Attendance Requirements
 
Selected participants must attend the AMP! Kickoff and the five-day Summer Institute, which are scheduled for the dates below:
 
AMP! Kickoff | TBD at Minute Maid Park (transportation, game ticket  and meal provided)
Summer Institute | July 7 - 11, 2025 | 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
 
In addition to the Kickoff and Summer Institute, participants are expected to attend sessions throughout the 2025-2026 academic year.
 
School Year Training 
September through April
4 Wednesdays | 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
4 Saturdays | 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
 
A tentative list of dates will be available soon.
 
Upon successful completion of the program, both participants in a teacher-pair will receive a stipend of $2,000.
